Its all in the name

I was born on the 21st of November. Gods and goddesses did not shower their blessings from above and neither did anyone utter prophecies in my name, but there was definitely a lot of celebration in my family. My parents named me something I always thought had no meaning, since it is a pretty uncommon name .. until my grandfather told me many years later that it meant 'rainbow' in hindi. Not bad , I mused.

More recently I discovered accidently that I share my name with Brahma's daughter! I was bowled over and thrilled with the mythological connection to say the least. I excitedly shared it with my parents and was highly amused at the irony of having to enlighten the very people who named me.. I don't think it made too much of a difference to them at this point in their lives but what the heck ..
