Autobiography of a disgruntled occupant in my wardrobe

I belong to a girl who bought me very reluctantly. Most of my time is spent wondering when my next sighting will be. I am totally at her mercy. I expire soon so most of my brothers and sisters who are already stocked up wait in anticipation only to end up lost, confused and desolate like me. At times the wait seems worth it as I am an adornment for very special occasions. I am akin to a prized possession. I am allowed to meet only some close friends and family. Most of the people she interacts with on a day-to-day basis don't even know about my existence in her life. They believe its all hearsay! Here's an open confession. I can't understand females I tell you - One would actually be excused for thinking I make her look revolting! Truth be told, she revels in all the attention she gets thanks to the new dimension I add to her personality. Yet for most of the time, I am swimming in my own thoughts and private world. Unfair I scream.

Apart from these vexing quirks, my owner is generally amiable so I don't give her a hard time when she uses me.I am blessed with such good care that at times I can't believe my own good luck. Nothing to do on most days but a comfortable home and hearth (I did mention I was confused so stay with me on my roller-coaster emotions when it comes to my owner). I expose a whole new world and make people look nice usually, but my owner feels thoroughly exposed when she uses me. Thank goodness I come in pairs and I ain't alone in this. Misery needs company. I have only one complaint with life as such. My competitor (alternative in this case) is drab , boring and doesn't get heads turning unlike me .. but alas! This thought sometimes churns the insides of my stomach and burns a hole in my heart.

The day isn't far when I might drown in the same solution she uses to clean me,  shrieking in between gasps for all to hear  "So long , and thanks for all the fish" !!!!!!

- Bausch & Lomb contact lenses

p.s. -  By the way, I do use glasses regularly but my lenses aren't as ignored as I made it out to be. So this attempt at  creative writing is simply my relentless effort to impress all you nice readers out there.

Very very nice post. It was a complete surprise. Originally I thought you meant Kancheepuram Silk Saree. When I read "it comes in pairs" i thought you meant shoes. At the end, I liked the anti-climax.

Really, really nice post. For a while, I actually felt sorry for a seldom worn garment. Great twist to discover it was your contacts.

Empathy, empathy.
You know these Bausch and Lomb people were offering people at a mall in Delhi free 24-hour contact lenses. They asked me and I said no! Why? Because I know I am super-lazy!!!
