Give a child a toy and watch his/her eyes light up in joy !! That's what we did last Saturday.
Kudos to Viju and Shobha for their dedication without which this would NOT have been possible. They collected/bought so many toys and clothes for the " Gift a Smile " event held in Brindavan Tent School , keeping in mind what the children would like. Not to forget the others who were part of this recipe for success in no small measure --- Shreyas, Guru, Netra and Geetha!
Needless to say, the broad smiles and cheers all around gave us all a high :-)
* I doubt the donors read my blog, but Thank You for your contributions.

Very true..We were so high that Guru gulped lassi, Aam ka Panna and Jal jeera..;-)
Amazing to see that you took out time from your busy schedule to touch so many little lives... Kudos to you. I keep thinking of doing it all the time...but have never gotten to it until now...
great job :)
hope their smiles never fade.
sonal - Yes you are !! Thank you!
Mohan - That's right. Also, it really doesn't take too much effort if you think about it. Thanks a lot.
Shruti - Oh yeah, it was great to see them happy. Thank you.
Urmil - What you said is so right. Thank you so much. I'll surely let you know the next time around. It simply slipped my mind. It was even so close to your home!
Swaram - Thank You!!! That would be nice. Lets hope it happens.
Neo - Thank YOU monsieur!!!
Shobha - Hehehe.. Good one. I was sure that in a few more minutes, he was gonna order another meal!
Vidya - Its nothing considering I'm single right now & usually while away my weekends. Thank you very much!
Shruthi - Thanks. Touch Wood!
So good to see this....its easy not to think abt the other side of life when we have our stomachs full & a roof over our heads. Taking time out to spend with orphans & the deprived never occur to most of us. Kudos!!!!
I visit this orphanage Shishu Bhavan I think[I forget the name]run by Mother Theresa's nuns[those white sari with blue border nuns], whenever i go to Bangalore.
I always come out in tears & have this feeling tht we are so blessed in comparison & tht whatever we do is SO just a drop in the ocean.
A heartwarming post Rohitha, thank U!!!!
Great job and those smiles tell a wonderful story. Way to go lady. You really helped to brighten some precious lives and it had to brighten yours also.
Awww, how wonderful!
Accept my hand shakes and a pat on the shoulder!! 'Way to go girlie!'
Whatta moment it must have been to see those innocent smiles on those kids
That was really awesome.. something which I have been wanting to do.. will definitely join you once I am back for good to blr.. This is a very nice initiative.. great going girl!!!
Reflections - Honestly, I am speechless. You managed to put it down in words so effortlessly precisely what I wanted to convey though that photo :) Everytime I leave those kids & watch them go back into their thatched homes, I feel disappointed :( Their everyday lives are something we cannot fathom even in our wildest imaginations. Drop in the ocean is the perfect phrase for our efforts, no matter how much. Thanks Nancy!!! Not able to express but your comment really struck a chord.
Arkansas Patti - Thank You!!! "..it had to brighten yours also.. " -- Touche !!
Agnes - Welcome here & thanks!!!
Shruti - Lets shake on that note. True, no matter how down you are, when you see a lil kid smiling, there's no way you can frown or keep a straight face.
Avada Kedavra - Thank U!!! Sure sure, awaiting Ms. Ashwini :) The more the merrier.
This is so beautiful...
My children's school had organised a collection drive for books for a reading library for slum children during the 'Joy of giving' week.
The children were very enthusiastic and willingly donated their favourite books. The children are so pure, they love to give away stuff. It is us grown ups who stop them from spreading joy and teach them to be selfish later.
I am so glad you were involved in this.
Wowo..that was one of the best thing...I am proud of you.....thanks to all your friends
Aryan's Mom
Hey... First time ehere in ur blog... Gr8 to see that photo in my first... This is nothing but seeing god in the smiles of these innocent kids!!!
A noble work well done!!!
Aparna - Welcome here & thanks !!! Great to hear your kids were so enthusiastic and involved. :) You're right, kids are innocent, but sadly grown-ups instill the seed of 'selfishness'in them. Tragic.
Aryan's mom - Thank you very much. Glad you're back!
Bala - Welcome here! Thanks a lot for that heartfelt comment !!!
