Codelines and fixes !!
These are probably the only thoughts in my mind the last 2 weeks. Pretty familiar to all I bet so I won't go into details.
These days, I leave before everyone else in the wee hours of the morning (6:50 a.m. to be p-r-e-c-i-s-e) and return nearly after everyone else in my home (8:45 p.m. or later). I can't honestly say I deserve your commiserating comments for if there's one thing I do best - it is taking good care of myself. I never miss breakfast, lunch, snacks or dinner and I ensure I sprinkle regular coffee/tea/chat breaks also during the course of the day !! The one thing I miss is reading. I took one month to finish 'Pirate Latitudes' (Michael Crichton) as I didn't want to strain my poor eyes. This might continue for some more time and I can't wait for the nightmare to end!
Yesterday I was really struggling with one pesky problem and spent nearly one hour on it doggedly without much success. I had not checked my mails or updates over the weekend either so I decided to take a break for 5 minutes. I noticed a few new posts. While reading SG's blogpost, a very simple solution to the problem I had been mulling over hit me like a tornado. SG, I don't know if you observed, but that is why I hurriedly scribbled a few lines, posted my comment, closed the window & went back to deal with my prime matter of contention! Yes, I did manage to resolve that. I tried to read another blogpost later that evening when yet another problem flummoxed me but the magic didn't work second time around. One time wonder :-) I had a good mind to walk up to my manager & tell him that blog-reading / surfing between work should be pleasantly encouraged if not strictly enforced. I held myself back only because I didn't want him throwing me off guard by considering it and worse, circulating my blog for starters!! Eeeks. I'd actually hate my blog to be the cynosure of all eyes and the subject matter of all discussions. Besides, the main point is that there are plenty of potential subjects for future blogposts in my office which I didn't want to forego.
Oh, my mom is glowering at me as my dinner's waiting. I just got home & well, anything and anyone can wait..but not food!! So off me goes :-)

hope your work load reduces :)
Gracious, that is a long day. Glad you are taking good care. Think you ought to be able to read blogs at work, kind of a mind break which with those hours, you need. Tell your boss it will increase your productivity. They love to hear that.
Hope things slow down for you and you get to enjoy your reading again.
Now that is a looooong day!
Long days.. Hmmm ..
U need a break :).. Let's plan out something for a two day weekend .. out of town types .. :)
I am going through a routine very similar to yours. I am writing this comment from my office desktop. :-)... Believe me, I check most of the blogs during office hours and it really helps when I feel I need a break.
Holy cow!! You are having pretty long days but I know how grueling it could be.
A simple fix can take ages. But I am glad that you are not skipping meals, unlike me who forgets the world!!

Nice one. Yes, anything can wait. But not food.
I am glad you were able to get a solution to your problem when reading my blog. You must ensure you read my blog again and again whenever you have a problem to resolve. I won't charge you for reading my blog. It's free.

I am absolutely with you on frequent time outs for reading blogs & there by breaking apart from routine. Have fun... getting lost with work is also good at times ;)
Wow...Long days indeed..Good to hear that you are taking care of yourself though.. Have fun ;)
Shruthi, my blog & I will be forever indebted to you ;) not in IT? I'm gonna fwd my resume to you then.. & don't say'whatodoo', you know very well whatodooo:D
Arkansas Patti, thanks so much. Suggestion taken-I'll throw in some more random jargon as well;) I get distracted easily so don't read blogs etc too often while working. But it IS a really good way to unwind!!:)
Agnes, too long for my liking!:(
sonal, whoa, now you're talking! Tell me when & where , I'll be there :D Such fun even thinking about it!!
Tan, I partly agree with you-Its definitely a good relief from work:)It distracts me most of the times so I consciously try to limit myself.
Insignia, :-)I keep looking for excuses to take breaks. Hee:D I'm hopeless!!
Swaram, thank you for all those words:) Heehee..'fodder for the blog';-) One hopes the fodders don't land up & end up reading!!
Samvedna, :-) :-)that's nice of you!
Shilpa Garg, lemme try to explain. I know I can't control who reads my blog. Its quite easy to locate anyone's blog these days anyway.I don't really mind my colleagues reading my posts (I know many of them do as ghost-readers) as I try not to write about events that might hurt me or anybody I know personally. What I meant was I don't like drawing too much attention to myself.Earlier I had listed my blog in fb/orkut etc but I don't like going public so took it off:-)thankiiee for the wishes Shilpa!!!:-))
PNA, Scrawny & Bulky-2 extremes?? Wonder how U manage!!I eat more during these long days. But maybe all the walking around I do sort of ensures I usually look food-deprived:)
umsreflections, thankooo!!:) Ooh, I know many colleagues who also solve problems in their dream. Me, I forget all about office the moment I'm out of the gate;)heeehee ;D
maverickshree, right you are ma`am.. thanks so much!!!!:)
evanescentthoughts, seriously, I feel like tearing my hair apart sometimes:) haha. you take care too!
Sriram, Yeah I get it..'Moms food is moms food'-no replacement available for that! best you can do is make some of your fav food for yourself:)thank u!
SG, Hahaha..Like I said,it didn't work second time around. I was scared you were gonna charge me. How generous of you!!So happy to have your support;-)
gils, wow..2 books together! enjoy. Pirate Latitudes isn't an MC masterpiece sadly ..It is the usual pirates-in-search-of-treasure story with a few thrills. Decent!:)
Reflections, oh yeah! that's why I 'pour' out my woes here and pray that fellow-bloggers would 'drink' it all in ;-D
- Nancy, believe me I have added the date of posting in my settings page. It just doesn't show up in this template :( Even Shilpa had asked me to do it earlier. I have no clue what else to do. Let me ask some others and search for some online help. Any ideas pls share? Here's what I do in case all else fails -I'll add the date as part of the post itself when I publish.
Mohan, Yup getting lost in work that involves some brain-work is awesome. I can't afford to take regular blog-reading breaks while working on something as --1.I get distracted, 2.I sit around the VP;-)
Choco, yusso..thanks! fun will be when it all gets over ;)
'Being late bug' has bit me too. I too had long days and didn't have the energy to go thru' all my friend's blogs. I had enough time to chk my mails and reply to my blog comments.
I know you are having a long schedule. Take care of yourself well.
Very happy to know the SG blog has worked like magic. Let me also go there and see what is 'Special'.
I assume you like Michael Crichton a lot !! (even your pen name says so!)
I dont get those two words, but I know for sure they are something to do with washing machines and fridges. is it not ?? :D :D :D
Ever since wedding, my blogging takes place only in office ! No time at home you see ! :D :D
and ohh, going by the message at the top, this post wasnt long at all ! :D :D :D
Atleast you took one month..I would take ages to finish a book.
Btw how is the book?
Aryan's mom
chitra, better late than never:) I always look fwd to your comments. I hope SG read that last line. He's bound to feel 'special':D
vimmuuu, red-carpet welcome I say!!!:):)Yup I like MC(since I read his Great Train Robbery). Seeing that now all you think about is washing m/c & fridges, obviously you won't have to time to blog from home--"housework" must be eating into your time!!;)
Subha, Its not outstanding but its not boring. Its worth reading once. More of a flight/train journey kind of novel:)
gosh having a night shift huh!!!
thats a unique way to solve code... maybe i should try too :P
good to know
you are managing food
Rajlakshmi, huh? think you got it slightly mixed up. I'm not working night shifts, only long days:)
